016 - In The Cross
On the cross, my Lord conquered all the foes;
On the cross, all my sins He washed away.
O' Moving, life-yielding love!
Its depth and height infinite!
By the cross, God's love to me is displayed.
2. On the cross, "It is finished!" He declared;
On the cross, the wall of sin He shattered.
O' Salvation of glory!
I've obtained glorious freedom!
By the cross, God and man embrace as one.
3. In the cross, I can see a ray of hope;
In the cross, my soul's comforted and healed.
O' Tender light of the cross!
What encouragement it gives!
By the cross, my life has a glorious change.
4. On the cross, His off'ring is once for all;
On the cross, His blood washed me white as snow.
O' Perfected for all time!
Full acceptance, endless love!
By the cross, God and man are ever close.
5. In the cross, He cast away my load of sin;
In the cross, He freed me from the yoke of law.
O' How warm and sweet to live
In His vast ocean of love!
By the cross, God's love on me is outpoured.
6. In the cross, His love kindles my whole life.
In the cross, His love gives me faith and might.
O' Wondrous love of the cross -
Shall be my drive and my rest!
By the cross, I shout for joy and vict'ry.
