EP297 To Enjoy Him as Our Life is to Live by Him Through Faith
To enjoy Him as our life is to live by Him through faith
The difference between man’s help and His help
The devil’s work
The Lord solves man’s two greatest problems: 1. The problem of sin and 2. the problem of death, the death of our spirits.
In order to overcome we need to fight the battles of the mind and the battle of faith
- “Christ is our life” is the same as we live by faith in Him.
- We rely on Him, who is the one that lives in us and provides us with all we need.
- Every day we need Him so much to overcome the world. He is our Saviour.
- “Christ is our life” means He abides in us and is working in us.
- He lives in us for He desires to be the closest to us.
- He is now in glory, holding all authority for us, and He causes all things to work together for our good. He is also in us supplying all that we need. He lives for us.
- Our spirits need Him the most.
The difference between man’s help and His help
- Man can share messages and say encouragement or guide you with the truth. We can explain the truth, yet only the Lord can work in man’s heart to change them.
- No one and nothing can help people’s hearts. All the talking we do is to encourage you to go to Him.
- We can share to expose the schemes of the enemies to save you from their lies.
- Matt 11:28 - Those who come to Him will not be hungry. Those who are heavy laden can come to Him to rest.
- We should always go to Him to eat and drink. We need to enjoy and live in His light.
- We need to come to Him and let Him work in our heart.
The devil’s work
- The enemies try all means to hinder us in coming before God, to cut off our supply line.
- When we come before God, the enemies will distract us by many different thoughts that hinder us from enjoying.
- When we stay in His presence, He will help us to calm down and settle before Him. Gradually we will be attracted to Him. The more we are able to enjoy Him, the more we can be settled and stable. Even if the environment is not perfect, you are still able to draw near to Him.
- Yet it will be better if we can go to the “wilderness” or “secret places” to draw near to Him.
The Lord solves man’s two greatest problems: 1. The problem of sin and 2. the problem of death, the death of our spirits.
- The Lord is Jesus, who saves His people from sins. He forgave all our sins. He saves us from the consequences of sin and the punishment of hell. He saves us from eternal death
- Gen 2:17: “...in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Adam was still alive walking and living, yet the seeds of death had started. At last, he died. His relationship with God changed completely after he sinned. He was dead in His transgressions.
- In taking away the barriers of sins, the ultimate goal is for us to be able to draw close to God to enjoy Him. We can have fellowship with God. It is more than regaining paradise.
- The day we believed in Him, we experienced being born again. In that same moment, the Father, the Lord and the Spirit live in us. The experiences in our spirits are more precious than Adam before he had sinned.
- Now our hearts will never die again. We have eternal life, we forever have a relationship with God.
- Even if we are not in condition, He will not leave us, but we will become dry. We can do nothing when our minds and hearts are far from Him. (John 15:5)
- We can pray, “Lord save me” and rely on Him again; He will save us and strengthen us from within.
In order to overcome we need to fight the battles of the mind and the battle of faith
- Col. chapter 3: we need to seek the things from above.
- Our fountain and our love target is in glory.
- Also, He is in us supplying us all we need.
- Faith is like the neck that connects the head and the body. After we believe, we can still choose to turn to Him or choose to be distracted, even though He lives in our hearts.
EP298 The Lord is the Life from the Beginning
The Lord is the life from the beginning
The glory of the life from the beginning
Man is the highest among the creation
After we accepted the Lord, what can really help us
- John 1:4: in Him was life.
- Psalm 36:9: for with You is the fountain of life.
- John 14:6: the night before the cross, the Lord said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” He is the way to lead us back to Abba. He has really opened a new way for us. He took away all the barriers between man and God, so that we may enjoy the abundance in His life.
- John 4:24: God is spirit. He is infinite. This infinite one is the Father, the Son (the Lord) and the Spirit. Yet in 1 John 1:1-2, it particularly refers to the infinite life from the beginning.
The glory of the life from the beginning
- He is infinite
- He is love, light and life infinitely
- His life is the source of everything and every life. He is the ocean of life. Even the life of a plant is from Him.
- The life in every creature expresses His beauty and glory.
- All is from Him and all life gains its source from Him.
Man is the highest among the creation
- We were fearfully and wonderfully created.
- We were created in His image–we are beings with spirit.
- Not only do we have body but we have spirit.
- With our spirit, He has put eternity in our hearts. We are able to draw near to God. We can be in love with Him. We can have fellowship and understanding with one another.
- Our union with the Lord is nearer than any union or connection in the world. It’s deeper than that between the vine and the branches. The branches can get supply from the vine; similarly, we enjoy the Lord to bear fruits.
- His Spirit is working mightily in us.
After we accepted the Lord, what can really help us
- We cannot rely on knowledge or outward guidance to help our spirits.
- If we just follow all the rules and guidelines, we are bound to fail, like what the book of Colossians mentions how they try to rely on rules and laws to overcome the lusts but cannot.
- Focusing on the outward behaviours is the wrong way of pursuit. Instead, we can walk it out when it naturally flows out from our hearts.
- If we only have the outward performance but it’s not from the hearts, it’s meaningless to God.
- We cannot rely on education.
- Our strength and fountain is in Him.
- We need to draw near to Him, for He is our life. When He kisses us, we can forget the world. We can have peace and we are drawn by Him.
- We can do nothing when we are away from Him. We cannot overcome, be normal, nor can we do what we want or need to do.
- The enemy tries to distract us from drawing close to God.
EP299 Enjoy the Lord as Your Life
The way of pursuit in the Book of Colossians
The Pentecost in the Book of Acts
Life from the beginning
This glorious life from the beginning manifested Himself
The joy we gain from having fellowship with the Lord
- The Colossians used man’s way to abstain from sin, even to a point that they afflicted themselves.
- We do not rely on our will power to overcome.
- God created us as man with spirit, so we need to love God with our whole heart, mind and body. However, we are not relying on these to overcome or to do God‘s will.
- We have to rely on God to strengthen ourselves. Apart from Him we can do nothing. When we rely on Him and enjoy Him, our inner man will be strengthened.
- Our thoughts will affect our spirits, feelings and even the whole person. It doesn’t mean that we don’t use our will power, but the difference is we use it by relying on God.
The Pentecost in the Book of Acts
- When the Spirit came at Pentecost, Peter must have experienced the Holy Spirit’s tremendous help, that his faith and his whole person was uplifted. Peter could use the Book of Joel, together with other bible passages, to preach and touch people’s hearts.
- God’s Spirit was with them, and that’s why Peter’s words pierced through the listeners’ hearts. Had it not been the Holy Spirit, the result would have been totally different.
- The Holy Spirit worked in Peter and the audience’ hearts. Without His help, Peter would not have known what to say and how to say it.
- Brother Daniel Yu had many experiences sharing messages. He was exhausted, but right at the moment when he opened his mouth to share the gospel, the Holy Spirit helped him and gave him strength, to the point that his spirit, his whole person, and even his voice were all affected.
- When our eyes are opened, we can see clearly, and even in one moment we can see the whole message. We experience being uplifted, having stronger will power and affection.
Life from the beginning
- The life from the beginning is the fountain and source of everything. From creation we know the power, the strength and the glory of the life.
- We can see from those who believe in Him throughout history, that their life shows the glory and beauty of this origin.
- Even from non-believers, we can see the beauty of their creativity through their arts, music, and their humanity. We can also see the beauty in human relationships through parents and children, husbands and wives, etc. From the smiles and lovely images of mankind, we also see God’s glory. Every good thing comes from God. He is the fountain of all goodness.
- Although man sinned and fell short of the glory of God, still, we could see beauty from the trace.
- For those who believe in God, we have added beauty and glory from God.
This glorious life from the beginning manifested Himself
- 1 Timothy 3:16
- 1John 1:1-2: when John wrote this book, he was in his 80/90s. Yet, he still remembered so well how he leaned on the Lord’s bosom. He saw, touched and heard from the life Himself. He could not forget that He also held the resurrected Lord.
- John knew it was precious to know the life from the beginning. He would like to share with others his first-hand experiences so that we can have fellowship with the Lord of life.
- We have fellowship with Abba through the blood of His Son. Although we cannot see Him with our eyes, we can also have fellowship with Him.
- Now the Lord is even closer to us than when He was on earth with His disciples. We can have fellowship with Him in our spirit.
The joy we gain from having fellowship with the Lord
- Man seeks for joy; God is the fountain of joy. Psalm 43:4: “God my exceeding joy.”
- Things in this world cannot give us joy from the bottom of our hearts.
- We need to draw near to Him to have joy and life. He is the life from the beginning.
EP 300 The Glorious Life from the Beginning Now Lives in Us
Before we accepted the Lord
What is important for man
Our spirit is alive again
1 John 5:11 we have life in the Lord
The Glorious Life from the beginning now lives in us
The deepest union
- We were dead in sin and our transgressions, that is, we were separated from God. We could not enjoy Him and all His provision.
- Even though God may have worked in us before, such as in the gospel meeting or some time before we believed (because He is merciful), it is very different from how we can draw close to Him every day now. We know now there is no more gap or separation between Him and you.
- The book of John talks about life. Chapter 3 mentions “born again”, and John 20:31 says the book of John is written to let us know that in believing in God we may have life in His name.
What is important for man
- The first is to have sins forgiven, and the other is to gain life. Both of these happened at the time we accepted the Lord and believed.
- The day when we accepted the Lord, many good things happened. According to the covenant, the first blessing is we were born again. We became a new creation. God lives in us.
- In that moment, it’s like “the veil is rent”, and God ran to us. At the moment when brother Fish believed, he did not know God came to embrace and kiss him with many kisses, but he felt God was very close. Now he knows that’s what had happened. When the prodigal son returned, the Father, the Son and the Spirit all came to embrace him.
- The joy of salvation made brother Fish dance on the way home.
- Whether we know it or not, the reality is, God came to live with us at the time we believed in God. We might only enjoy sins being forgiven but the blessings are much more. We are a new creation.
Our spirit is alive again
- It’s not that a new spirit was added to us, but our spirit had once been dead and was separated from God. We did not feel God or have any contact or connection with Him before, but now our spirits live again. We live and can enjoy and feel God’s love and presence. For sure we will experience God.
- Even if we didn’t know how to pray or express to God, we will still experience Him. The day we believed, the Lord had already given us all, even though we may not have known clearly that He is our true beloved and He is ours. We may have only known that He is the Saviour.
- Like a new born baby who may not know about parents and his family, he is still the son and has everything from his family.
- The day we believe, we have life and live with Christ. Eph 2:5, 1 John 4:9
- We preach the gospel not only to help people to have sins forgiven but to have life.
1 John 5:11 we have life in the Lord
- When we accept the Lord, we have the Son, which means we have life. Our spirits are not dead or separated from God. We experience the opposite of death, our spirits live and can respond to God.
- Psalm 22:26 may your hearts live forever
- Psalm 22 prophesied the suffering of the Lord on the cross. The result is extremely precious–He wished our hearts to live forever. This is eternal life.
- In Psalm 119, the psalmist mentioned many times about asking God to give him life. The writer loves God’s words and he wrote this long psalm. He drew near to God and He asked God to save him, and he was saved by God’s words again and again.
The Glorious Life from the beginning now lives in us
- He is the fountain and the most glorious.
- Now He is in us and gives us life. He is united in one spirit with us. What we enjoy now is more than what Adam enjoyed with God.
- His Spirit is in us. His body is now in glory. He is staying in New Jerusalem.
- We enjoy His special presence, which is closer than the vine and the branch. He is providing and supplying what we need in us.
- 2 Timothy 4:22: He is with our spirit. It’s not His resurrected body but His Spirit.
- When we pray, we pray to the Lord who is in glory. Yet He is everywhere. He once became a man, but He is always God as well.
- He is the same Lord no matter when we were young or now. He is the closest to us.
The deepest union
- Our relationship and union with the Lord is closer than that of husband and wife. We have the deepest love relationship and fellowship.
- Romans 8:9: the Spirit of the Lord is in us and we live again
- Romans 8:9-10: Christ is in us, so our spirit is alive again. We belong to Him.
- 1 Corinthians 15: 45: He is giving life
- “His Spirit”, “the Spirit of Christ”, or “the Lord’s Spirit”, are all talking about the same thing. His Spirit is in us.
EP301 Live by His Life
Live by His Life
Live with Him–2 Corinthians 3:18
We enjoy the blessing of the new covenant the 4th blessing and more Hope of the glory
- Romans 5:10: we are saved by His life. His life is His Spirit, that is the life from the beginning. It’s the same meaning as He helping us, His spirit helping us and we being saved by His life.
- It’s clear that it’s His life / His Spirit. There is no mixture of our spirits and His. Instead, He is in us; He lives in us.
- Colossians 3:4: “Christ is our life” means His Spirit lives in us. There’s a saying that after we accept the Lord we own “immortal life” or “the life of God.” All these are WRONG. He living in us doesn’t mean we have God’s life.
- Some are confused and mistaken that we are half man half God. It’s NOT true!
- In Romans 5 it says that His Spirit helps us and saves us.
- The Book of Colossians explains the meaning: His life is providing for our life. It is not that He lives for us and we are totally useless.
- He’s saved us and now we are a new creation. We are the lilies and sheep. Wrong saying: men are too wicked and not worthy to live….
- Galatians 2:20: “It is no longer I who live…” In the past we were thorns, pigs, the old selves. Now we live by faith and we live by the Lord.
- Christ lives in me= His life is in me= His Spirit is in me. Christ is living in me, the new creation.
- Now we are a new creation, a lily, a sheep. Yet we need to rely on Him to live out our identity. Otherwise, we cannot live to our potential.
Live with Him–2 Corinthians 3:18
- He does not replace us to live for us and we are not useless, having lost ourselves. In fact, by relying on His life, all His supplies, we are strengthened to live with Him. By relying on Him we can do what the new creation should do.
- If He replaced us to live, that would mean He had never really saved us, we had never changed, and we could never do anything good.
- He is in us: He guides us, helps us to live a life that He wants us to. We can be more and more like Him .
- His life affects my life.
- Paul reminds the brothers and sisters in Colosse that we need to be mindful of the things above. We need to seek the things above. This is the life of faith.
- We rely on Him and we can be strengthened. He works deeply in our life to affect us to live like Him. We will go from glory to glory.
- When we stably live with Him, Christ’s ways of living are formed or stabilized in us. It's like Philippians 1: 21: “For to me to live is Christ…”
- We will improve more and more. We will be like the Lord more and more. We will continue to grow and become mature.
We enjoy the blessing of the new covenant the 4th blessing and more Hope of the glory
- What He promised now we really can enjoy. There is no more shadows and barriers between God and man. The forgiveness and salvation is perfect. We don’t need to worry about the sin problems.
- When we enjoy the indwelling of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we have the assurance that all our sin problems are gone.
- He becomes the hope of our glory. The Holy Spirit is in us and He is the pledge of our inheritance in the glory.
- We were coheir with Christ to inherit all.
- We enjoy He is in us. This is eternal life. It’s not how long we can live but we enjoy God Himself. John 17:3: we can experience God deeply.
- From the least to the greatest we all can know God and experience Him.
EP302 Enjoy Eternal Life and Enjoy the New Covenant
New covenant
Compare to enjoy eternal life:
Related to the first blessing
Related to the second blessing
The first and second blessings work together in us
The third blessing
The fourth blessings
The conclusion is to ENJOY!
- “I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts.”
- “I will be their God and they shall be my people.”
- “They shall not teach each one…for they shall all know me.”
- “I will remember their sins no more.”
Compare to enjoy eternal life:
- In the Books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, more than once they mentioned the new covenant, some even in detail, especially about the first point.
- Before the cross, the Lord also talked a lot about the first blessing. That was also the time when He talked about the Holy Spirit.
- John the Baptist talked about someone who would baptize with the Holy Spirit. This person must be very great, and this can be only the Son of God.
Related to the first blessing
- Being baptized with the Holy Spirit is related to the first blessing.
- Being born again
- A new creation
- In Him–many passages about this–”in Christ:” (Heb. 13:21)
- Union with the Lord
- We are compatible with Him.
- We are created for Him and this is His ultimate purpose.
- We like God’s law in us, the new creation partakes in His divine nature. Although sometimes we may be weak, deep down in our hearts we want God’s will.
- We are a new creation, but still we have the freedom to choose to love Him. Every time we choose to love Him, it’s our true heart.
- He really lives in us and becomes our life.
Related to the second blessing
- We need a sense of belonging.
- We belong to God and the fellowship of the Trinity.
- We are members of the family of God.
- We enjoy the most precious identity and relationship in this universe.
The first and second blessings work together in us
- The first and the second blessings are connected–the One who loves us lives in us.
- He is in us to guide us, help us and give us light. We really have the contact and the connection. He can touch our hearts.
- We are His true children and darling.
- We are His family.
The third blessing
- It’s to enjoy eternal life. From the least to the greatest, all can enjoy the first hand experience with God.
- We not only listen from others but we all can directly experience His appearing and closeness. (Phil. 3:8)
- Paul was passionate in his pursuit of the law and once he turned to Christ, he laid aside all to gain Christ.
- Mary chose the good portion and at the end she offered the perfume to the Lord. Her personal experience with the Lord helped her to offer her love to God.
- The Lord is the bread of life. (John 6)
- He abides in us and supplies us. However, we need to turn to Him and come to Him to enjoy. Those who have not yet accepted Him need to accept Him first in order to gain life.
- To sustain our physical life, we need to eat. Likewise, for our spiritual life, we need to “eat” regularly to sustain.
- We need to “eat good food.” Eating food from devices is harmful to us. What we see, read and listen to may affect our minds, and subsequently our spirits.
- We need to protect our minds and tune into good channels.
- Turn to seek the things that are above, and mind the things of the Spirit.
The fourth blessings
- It is related to the first blessing. If our sins were not settled and barriers were removed, how could we enjoy the first blessing? He could only live in us after our sins were washed away.
- All sin problems are settled.
- If we have any failure, we should just quickly turn back to God.
- If there is no sin, then the only thing we need to do is to turn to Him more and more.
- The Lord will immediately help us if we ask Him to.
The conclusion is to ENJOY!
- No more sins
- No more accusations.
- Enjoy eternal life and we will never perish. (John 10:28-29)
- Enjoy Him living in us; draw near to HIm.
